Topics & Discovery

Categories, shared discovery, quotas, and LLM usage

What topics are

Topics are high-level market categories on Polymarket — for example politics, crypto, or sports. They tell the pipeline which slices of the catalog to fetch and analyze.

You choose which topics matter to you. Everyone sees the same opportunity "brain" for the union of topics subscribed across all users: discovery is centralized, while your trading data stays private.

Subscribing and unsubscribing

Manage topics in Settings → Topics. Subscribe to add a category to the shared pipeline scope; unsubscribe to remove your interest (subject to plan limits).

  • New subscriptions take effect as the next pipeline runs process the updated topic set.
  • The UI shows which topics you are on and any limit messages if you hit a cap.

Shared brain model

Opportunity discovery runs as a shared service: one pipeline processes the union of all subscribed topics from all users. That keeps LLM and data work efficient and gives everyone the same view of qualified hedging pairs on the Discovery pages.

What stays yours alone: positions, orders, automation config, engine controls, P&L, settings, and stored CLOB keys.

Quotas and limits

Fair use is enforced with per-user quotas. Typical limits include:

  • Max topics — How many categories you may subscribe to at once.
  • Pipeline requests — Daily cap on triggering or requesting pipeline runs.
  • LLM tokens — Monthly budget for model calls used in discovery and related steps.

Tip

Check remaining allowance and usage in Settings → Topics (and related settings where your deployment surfaces quota details).

LLM usage tracking

The platform records LLM consumption against your account so operators can enforce monthly token limits and show usage trends. Heavy pipeline runs use more tokens; incremental runs use less. If you are near a limit, finish critical runs first or ask an admin to adjust your tier.
